Mt Diablo is one of our favorite places to hike and home of the infamous pig incident I refer to from time to time. It is an easy drive and has several trails to chose from.  We come here several times each the Spring while the mountain is covered with wild flowers. Mt Diablo is a friendly mountain. I know it may sound strange, but as you drive away, you can almost here it beckoning you to return.

Polly and Bart were here the previous week doing this exact hike. She looked forward to this steep incline all week. Is that sick or what?

I was going for the Rocky Balboa look here, but ended up with the hallelujah praise the lord, I made it look, which was exactly how I felt.

When Polly and I finally reached the top, Bart was sitting there well rested and saving us a lunch spot with a view.

And this of course, was the best day ever.

Polly, my sister, and I began hiking about five years ago. We immediately fell in love with the whole outdoor experience.  Spending  the day away from the worries of the world is like taking a mini vacation. Money cannot buy therapy like this. One day as we were hiking we were making fun of KaRyn, Polly's daughter.  She had called Polly two weekends in a row describing how she had just had her "best day ever." As we were laughing and trying to figure out how each day was her best day ever it occurred to us that she might be on to something.  Each day should be your best day ever.  And that is how we began to think of our Saturday hikes,  the "best day ever" with the exception of Mt. Rawlston, but that is a story for another day.
